The Night before the Tea of the Fey

Fey : Having or displaying an otherworldly, magical, or fairylike aspect or quality

I am

Hemlock Elfshimmer

And this is my friend
Pink Ears, the fey bunny

And this is my very bestest friend

Nettle Willowdancer

She casts weird dreams.
She lives in brambles and blackberry bushes.
She can only be seen when the bees swarm
and the crickets chirrup.
She wears blue and green like berries
and leaves and has delicate lilac coloured wings like a cicada.

and this is where we live in the magical woods

feyness n.
Word History: The history of the words fey and fay illustrates a rather fey coincidence. Our word fay, "fairy, elf," the descendant of Middle English faie, "a person or place possessed of magical properties," and first recorded around 1390, goes back to Old French fae, "fairy," the same word that has given us fairy. Fae in turn comes from Vulgar Latin Fta, "the goddess of fate," from Latin ftum, "fate." If fay goes back to fate, so does fey in a manner of speaking, for its Old English ancestor fge meant "fated to die." The sense we are more familiar with, "magical or fairylike in quality," seems to have arisen partly because of the resemblance in sound between fay and fey.

Today is a very exciting day ............

We are putting together a marvellous tea party for tomorrow!!  Pink Ears can hardly wait
for the guests to arrive!!

We are taking out the best china!  Of course,
our cups are ever so tiny,
but with a drop of magic - who knows
what may happen?

We have invited ever such exciting and mysterious guests ........

She is waiting on the Prince ....

who is travelling all the way from the romantic city of Paris

then the Fey Queen of England herself promised to come ......

She will arrive in a golden coach
and have her very own special cup

Then there are still my very good friend Red Riding Hood, the mermaids
and their friends and my little witchy friend with her magic spells and potions .......

you have another few hours left before the clock strikes 12

at midnight
the fairy lights will go on
and I will be expecting you

pssssttt....... a give-away for the Fairies Tea!

This OOAK hand made beauty can be yours ......

I took a fairy size canvas and turned it into a shadow box.

In May last year I did the Mary Magdalene pilgrimage in the South of France,
ending at the site of the healing waters of Lourdes.

I danced with the gypsies in Saintes Maries de la Mer,

walked into the ocean with the statue of Sarah la Kali,

and stayed in the original convent next door to the Basilica de Madeleine

Here, virtually on the doorsteps of the basilica, was the most wonderful
vintage and junk market.
I bought a vintage French school book and you see here that one of the pages
of that little book, was used to cover the small canvas.

I created a mold from a tin sacred heart ex-voto and moulded
a clay sacred heart.
Then painted it.

I added french trim and upholstery nails
to the outside of the canvas,
symbolizing the strength and courage
of the Sacred Heart within us all
and our innate divine ability to
live through and witness the
sweet and the bitter of life.

I thought of Mary's spirit, hidden everywhere. Her heart a red cup of fierceness tucked among ordinary things ......Here, everywhere, but hidden .....

A beautiful shrine.

Whatever it is that keeps widening your heart, that's Mary too; not only the power inside you, but the love. - Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret life of Bees

Comes beautifully packed in tissue paper and voile bag with a lavender herb bag and holy medal.

Forget-me-not

When faeries whisper, you can tell
In marsh or woods or glen or dell
In hush of night, the sound begins
Like tinkling bells upon soft winds
.
When faeries gather for a feast
Before the sunrise in the east
Beneath tall oaks — great, ancient friends
Above, the moon, its spotlight lends
.
When faeries dance . . . oh, what a sight
Around a bonfire, pure delight
Near sparkling stream that sings and flows
The laughter, after, never goes
.
When faeries eat, the food is grand
Why, it’s the best food in the land
Everyone just helps themselves
Faeries, brownies, sprites and elves
.
When faeries feast and play and sing
Such joy to living things they bring
The scraps that they leave on the ground
Feeds animals for miles around
.
Though they may live in imagination
Though there may be no faerie nation
The wonders of sweet faerie thoughts
Trace my heart like sweet forget-me-nots
.

Bonjour!

I have returned from a wonderful holiday in the UK and Paris.
This was my fourth trip to France
and I had forgotten what a beautiful city it is
with its own strong individuality
and
true Parisien lifestyle and beauty.

I am a born traveller and no trip has ever been too daunting
for me. This trip was very special as I took my
teenage daughter and I could see Paris through her eyes.

My feet are always the first to feel the pinch though!

This week at Inspiration Avenue I am hosting
Je t'adore Paris, I love Paris.

Where else in the world do you have hot chocolate
and a croissant to dunk, for breakfast?

Paris has been called the city of love,
and there is plenty to love in Paris.

The love of shopping.  Here departmental stores
look like cathedrals with golden domes and spires.

The love of art all things beautiful

The love of the Divine Feminine.
In true Parisien style they have their very own
Blessed Mary
Notre Dame de Paris - Our Lady of Paris
and you will find images of her everywhere

and of course romantic love

Please follow me to Inspiration Avenue and come and celebrate belle amour with us.
